If you want to enjoy time on your boat in Oklahoma, your best bet is to make use of the many different lakes across the state. You have a ton of options, but four lakes stand out for the variety of experiences they can offer.
Grand Lake Grand Lake is one of the most popular boating destinations in Oklahoma, but not quite the most popular. With 46,000 surface acres and more than 1300 miles of shoreline, there’s plenty of room for all kinds of boating fun. From skiing to fishing, you can do it all, and your experience won’t be as crowded as the more popular lakes in the state.
Lake Texoma As you might guess from the name, Lake Texoma is right on the border with Texas. This is the second-largest lake by area and the largest by volume in the state of Oklahoma. With more than 2.6 million acre-feet of water and 89,000 acres on the surface, this reservoir has tons of room for boating adventures.
Texoma sees millions of visitors every year. If you want the big event experience — such as for the 4th of July — this lake is where you can find it.
Eufaula Lake Eufaula is the largest lake in Oklahoma by area with more than 102,000 acres of surface water. It also enjoys over 600 miles of shoreline with camping, marinas, and lodging spread across the area. Eufaula offers the most space and the most variety in a boat outing, making it a great destination for plenty of trips.
Murray While Oklahoma has plenty of smaller lakes to offer, Murray is a special place. With 5,700 acres of surface, it’s considerably more intimate than the lakes above, but that’s the idea. Murray is nowhere near as crowded as some of the larger lakes, making it a great place for a peaceful time on the water.
