Boat Description

"Grayling," a 1979 Ocean Winds 33 catamaran designed by Pat Patterson and crafted by Symon’s Boatyard in Plymouth, England, is now available at a new price. This sturdy vessel is not only comfortable for cruising couples but also offers surprising space and storage for a 33 ft boat, making it ideal for liveaboard living. Its compact size simplifies finding dock space and reduces repair costs, fitting most marina travel lifts with ease. With a shallow draft and shorter mast, it grants access to areas many sailboats cannot reach. The well-protected cockpit and expansive deck area make it a popular gathering spot for socializing while under sail or at anchor. The layout features two staterooms, one of which can be converted into an office or workshop. Key specifications include: - Length Overall: 33 ft - Beam: 16' 4" - Draft: 3' 4" - Net Weight: 8 tons - Document Number: 618760 Propelled by a Yanmar 2QM20 2-cylinder diesel engine with 20 hp, "Grayling" features a Sillette Sonic Cat 1 outdrive, which was rebuilt in 2014. The cutter rig is equipped with a full-batten mainsail, a hank-on staysail, and a genoa on a Rotostay furler, alongside double headstays for downwind sailing. The galley boasts three deep stainless steel sinks, a top-loading refrigerator/freezer, a three-burner propane stove with an oven, and ample storage for supplies. The head features all necessary amenities, including a Groco HF marine toilet and a 25-gallon holding tank. For tankage, "Grayling" includes 300 liters of diesel, 75 gallons of fresh water, and various Jerry jugs for additional fuel and water storage. The vessel is equipped with multiple bilge pumps, a 10 ft folding Portabote with a 5 hp Nissan outboard, and a range of ground tackle including a 35 lb Manson Supreme anchor with a Lewmar electric windlass. The electrical system is robust, featuring four 6-volt Trojan batteries, a starting battery, an inverter, and solar panels, ensuring you have the power you need while out at sea. Navigation and safety equipment includes a VHF radio with GPS, depth sounder, autopilot systems, and extensive safety gear. The interior is designed for comfort and functionality with numerous fans, hatches, and custom mosquito screens. Safety equipment is comprehensive, ensuring peace of mind on your voyages. Recent maintenance includes new bottom paint and a repainted deck. For a viewing appointment, contact Bud Mueller at 248 343 0599.
