Matthews Yachts has a rich history dating back to 1890 in Ohio, where the Matthews Boat Company crafted over 1,000 boats and yachts, including numerous minesweepers for the US Navy. The company operated until 1975, and during the transition from wood to fiberglass, they collaborated with Halmatic LTD from Great Britain, known for their robust hulls that could withstand machine gun fire. The 56 Voyager model features a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull by Halmatic, while the decks and deckhouse are crafted from wood by Matthews, with some areas covered in fiberglass cloth. Originally named 'STROLLER', she later became 'LADY HAWK', then 'JOY SEA', and her current owner rebranded her as 'MY ALIBI' after purchasing her in January 2017. 'MY ALIBI' has been lovingly maintained and updated, showcasing a modernized classic with upgraded 4-cycle MACK engines, a newer generator, enhanced A/C, a revamped galley, and updated electronics. With a spacious master cabin and updated galley, she is ideal for liveaboard life.
