Stravaigin is a remarkable Bristol Channel Cutter designed by Lyle Hess and expertly crafted by Sam Morse. Originally purchased as a hull and deck version by a Maine schooner Captain who intended to complete her, she was transported to Maine but remained in storage for a year. Unfortunately, the Captain never fulfilled his dream, and in 2007, she was acquired by her current owner. Under the skilled guidance of shipwright Bill Buchholt, Apache Marine finished her to the high standards of the Morse factory, and she was launched in 2009, marking the last hull completed at the Morse factory in Costa Mesa. The final touches were supplied by Cape George Marine, who took over the Morse molds after the company closed. The original owners enjoyed sailing her from Maine to Grenada and exploring the Caribbean before returning to Florida, but they only used her for three months each year. Currently, Stravaigin is on the hard in Indiantown, ready for her next adventure! She features a lightly used Yanmar 3YM diesel engine with approximately 1,125 hours, a high-output Balmar alternator, and double fuel filters, along with a 16" max prop. The bottom is protected with a ten-year copper coat that only requires a light sanding for maintenance. All the canvas is in great condition, the varnish has just been refreshed, and the engine has been serviced, making her a well-maintained and cherished pocket cruiser. Additionally, she boasts a unique Morse self-steering system that operates off a trim tab on the rudder. Stravaigin is truly a captivating vessel!
