Vintage Norwegian Double Ended Ketch 1934

This remarkable Ketch boasts a rich history, having been constructed in Norway in 1934. It has journeyed from Norway to the Caribbean and the West Coast, even making an appearance in the film 'The Sea Gypsies' in 1978. Since 2009, the vessel has undergone extensive renovations, nearly rebuilding 90% of its structure, including the addition of a new pilothouse and collision bulkhead as per USCG standards. The motor was replaced with an Isuzu 6-cylinder in 2013, and a new 7kw Yamaha generator with just 100 hours has been installed. The fuel system features newly built tanks, including one aft tank and two wing tanks. The deck has been completely restored with durable materials, featuring 1-inch marine plywood, fiberglass, and Brazilian Ipe hardwood, all secured with naval bronze fasteners. Inside, the exquisite Sapele cabinetry was crafted by a master carpenter, complemented by brand-new B and H electronics, and all new running and standing rigging designed by Gordon Laco using Hempex. The only original components are the keel, mast, a few ribs, and some blocks. To enhance structural integrity, steel plates were installed every 18 inches. The bow stem and sprit have been replaced with locally sourced oak, while all sanitation, galley, and electrical systems are entirely new. The galley features modern amenities, including a microwave, gimbaled stove, copper sinks, cabinets, a freezer box, and a refrigerator. Water storage is efficient, with two tanks totaling 100 gallons, alongside grey and black water holding tanks. All electrical wiring and components are new, with three house batteries, one cranking battery, and one genset battery, supported by an inverter charger. The vessel has a fuel range of approximately 1000 miles (verification required). It is equipped with LED lighting and 24-volt navigation lights. The sail inventory, new in 2010, has seen minimal use and is well-protected. The anchor windlass is an authentic hand windlass from Glasgow, and there are two helm stations with comprehensive electronics (excluding autopilot) and hydraulic steering. Recent upgrades include an Argon-filled windscreen, a new VHF radio, and an EPIRB. Additionally, a Viking life raft added in 2014 is recertified annually, along with a 12-man Zodiac also added in 2014.
