Sea Breeze stands out as a remarkable example of a 1920-30s bridgedeck cruiser, and truly deserves to be seen in person to grasp her beauty. Built by Stephens Bros., a renowned name in American boat building, Sea Breeze was launched during their peak era. Initially commissioned by a distinguished physician from San Francisco, she served as an admiral's tender at the onset of World War II and was enlisted by the US Navy in 1941, transforming into the 'Hospital Boat YH-4' for operations in San Francisco Bay. In 1945, she was deployed to the western Pacific, providing ambulance services during the Battle of Okinawa, where she earned a combat ribbon and a bronze star for her commendable service. After her return to California and decommissioning, she became the personal yacht of Theo Stephens for many years, benefitting from dedicated care whenever the boatyard experienced downtime. Over her lifetime, she has been meticulously housed in a covered berth at Willow Berm and remains under a premium $18,000 cover crafted by Sausalito Canvas Works. Sea Breeze has undergone extensive hull and deck renovations, with the topsides painted in 2018, new shafts and struts installed, two new props added, both exhaust manifolds replaced, and a new chartplotter fitted. The custom foredeck butterfly hatch, skillfully made from teak, exemplifies craftsmanship, taking about 300 hours to create. Recent updates include a repower in 2000, featuring low hours on her rare twin Chevy 350 CID engines, a complete rewiring with a new charging system and gel batteries (2021), thorough refastening and repainting, and she now looks as if she just launched.
