When we chose to transition to a liveaboard lifestyle aboard a sailboat for our retirement, the Seawind stood out for its upgraded amenities, exceptional sailing performance, and the ease of handling it with just the two of us—though Jim often sails her solo. Our beloved Summer Salt has not only met our expectations but exceeded them in every way. After two years of exploring the New England waters, we spent eight months living aboard, sailing from Maine to the Bahamas and back. During this journey, we were impressed by her ability to handle upwind sailing and rough seas with ease. The generous living and galley spaces provided us with comfort, and we each had our own areas when needed. Hosting guests for extended stays was a breeze, and the onboard washing machine, despite its compact size, offered remarkable capacity. With a large freezer and cockpit refrigeration, we easily stored ample supplies during our time in the Bahamas. Her shallow 3.5-foot draft allowed us to anchor in spots that many other boats couldn’t access. We enjoyed our travels down the Intercoastal Waterway, never worrying about tidal conditions thanks to her 62-foot mast height, which kept us clear of bridges and shallow waters that delayed many other sailors. Another highlight of owning a Seawind is the supportive online community, always ready to help with questions or issues. We are reluctantly listing Summer Salt only because we are excited to purchase another Seawind.
