Tumbleweed is a custom-designed center cockpit sloop rigged monohull, built to endure the harsh conditions of potential iceberg encounters in the North Atlantic. Its hull features aluminum interlocking planks that are bolted together and sealed with epoxy, creating a robust bluewater sailing vessel that resembles a battleship rather than a conventional fiberglass boat. The unique hull design is truly remarkable and must be seen to be appreciated. The current owner acquired Tumbleweed in 2021, navigating it from the Great Lakes down the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico, where the mast was rigged at the Pensacola Shipyard. The boat underwent meticulous maintenance, including sandblasting and seven layers of protective paint to safeguard the hull. Tumbleweed has since sailed through the Florida Keys to Cape Canaveral, the Carolinas, and St. Augustine, Florida. It is currently docked at Rivers Edge Marina, and viewings are available by appointment only.
