The Pacific Seacraft 40, crafted by W.I.B. Crealock, represents an advancement from its predecessors—the 31, 34, 37, and 44 models. Its thoughtfully designed deck features a centerline king plank for stability, an extended bow platform perfect for anchoring, and a windlass boss for convenience. The robust double spreader keel-stepped mast is complemented by a solid boom-vang and lines that lead aft to the cockpit, ensuring ease of handling. Safety is prioritized with tall stanchions, lifelines, eight spacious mooring cleats, and bulwarks for secure footing. Inside, you'll find two private staterooms, an enclosed head with a separate shower, a spacious salon, a gourmet galley, and a large navigation station equipped for electronics. The engine room offers excellent access from the cockpit and the companionway ladder. The PS-40 boasts a highly effective split underbody design featuring a long, modified lead keel that also serves as a grounding shoe, along with a sturdy full skeg that safeguards the rudder. Notably, the propeller is housed within the skeg, eliminating exposed shafts or struts that could be damaged by debris. The moderately deep forefoot allows the 40 to sail smoothly to windward without excessive pounding. With impressive performance on all points of sail, the 40 consistently achieves speeds of 7 to 8 knots, enhancing daily mileage for quick passages. The shrouds are positioned inboard for optimal sheeting angles and excellent windward capability, while the double spreader cutter rig is perfectly suited for offshore sailing, maintaining balance even in strong winds.
