Introducing the 1989 Hobie 21SE, a remarkable racing catamaran built between 1987 and 1990. Designed for 2-3 crew members, it boasts an impressive top speed of 32 knots. This particular model is in exceptional condition, possibly the best available today. The second owner is reluctantly parting with it, finding it challenging to manage alone at 75 years old. The hulls are nearly blemish-free, while the tramp and seats are in excellent shape.
Equipped with a 12v deep cycle battery housed in an enclosure, this boat also features a marine VHF radio with an antenna atop the 33-foot mast, as well as a GPS-driven knot meter displaying on a 5" high LED screen. The battery powers a 55 lbs thrust trolling motor at the rear, which can be rotated 90 degrees to keep it out of the water while sailing.
In addition to the mainsail and jib, it includes a Genoa with a sock for easy coverage. The main and jib, crafted by Precision Sails about 8 years ago, are in superb condition; the main showcases a striking red and white striped design, while the jib features a dark blue background adorned with 13 white stars. Proudly named "Spirit of '76," this boat is perfect for celebrating the USA's 250th anniversary.
The rudders are pristine with minimal wear, and the two dagger boards are also well-maintained. The trailer, in very good condition, includes a storage box for sails and a mast lifting pole. Normally a three-person task, raising the mast is simplified with electric winches on the trailer, powered by the same 12v battery. A hand control box with four buttons allows you to easily manage the winches to keep the mast centered during raising or lowering.
The boat comes complete with an anchor and rode for deep-water mooring, as well as a custom cover for the hulls and tramp when not in use. Each seat, rudder, and battery box has its own cover, and the last six feet of the mast is also protected.
With a beam of 10 feet, the width can be reduced to about 8 feet by unlacing the tramp, allowing for easy transport on the trailer, which is designed to accommodate both widths.
