Boat Description

This stunning vessel boasts a construction of mahogany planking over sturdy white oak frames and backbone, featuring bronze fastenings and keel bolts. The decks are elegantly finished with Dynel over mahogany, complemented by mahogany coaming and cabin sides. Teak toe rails and cockpit seating add to the boat's charm, while Sitka spruce spars enhance its performance. Notably, the original bronze hardware was crafted by renowned designer L. Francis Herreshoff. Equipped for adventure, this boat includes bronze turnbuckles and stainless 1x9 standing rigging, high-quality bronze blocks from J.M. Reineck & Son, varnished mainsheet blocks, and bronze ventilation cowls. The Endura braid classic rope halyards, along with an Edson bronze diaphragm bilge pump and Rule electric bilge pump, ensure safety and functionality. A 12V battery paired with a 100-watt solar charging panel (new in 2022) provides reliable power. Additional gear includes a 10-foot sweep oar, a 5-inch Danforth Constellation compass, a radar reflector, and a comprehensive array of dock lines. Anchors include a 14 lb Danforth and a 14 lb Fortress, complete with two 120-foot 5/8 nylon anchor rodes. Comfort and convenience are prioritized with a Porta Potty, traditional cedar bucket, six life jackets, a flare kit, pollution placards, and two ABC fire extinguishers. The cockpit features plush closed-cell foam cushions, Sunbrella sail covers, and a sun awning. A boom tent, interim boom tent and frame, and a full winter cover and frame from 2017 ensure weather protection. The sails include a Nat Wilson main, mizzen, and jib (new in 2021 & 2023), along with a mizzen staysail and cruising spinnaker. For power, a Torqeedo electric outboard with two batteries and a removable motor bracket enhances mobility. Professionally maintained, this vessel has always been stored wet under a custom winter cover. With tasteful chafing gear and exquisite ropework throughout, decks were refurbished in 2025 with new nonskid. Maintenance records are available upon request, and the boat holds current New York State registration, PHRF, and CRF rating certificates. Additional insights can be found in WoodenBoat Magazine number 213 and various publications detailing L. Francis Herreshoff's designs.
