"THIS OLD HATT" has been meticulously rebuilt from the keel up by the esteemed boat builder and renovation specialist Tom Slane, undergoing a comprehensive refit in 1991 with ongoing enhancements through 2026, including a fresh application of Alexseal Off White paint from the rub rail up. Slane, the son of the founder of Hatteras, was tasked with restoring this iconic 53c Hatteras to 'like new' condition. His team completely stripped the interior down to the stringers and rebuilt it using light oak, creating three staterooms, two heads, a contemporary galley, and a spacious salon. No shortcuts were taken in revitalizing "THIS OLD HATT," as the entire plumbing and electrical systems have been replaced. The engines have also been overhauled, boosting horsepower by 35 percent over the standard 650hp. Since the major refurbishment, the port motor has around 80 hours of use, while the starboard has approximately 475 hours. The Flybridge has been entirely reimagined, featuring a custom helm console. With the addition of a tower and outriggers, "THIS OLD HATT" is fully equipped to help anglers reel in their catch. The cockpit is designed for serious fishing, complete with a custom tackle center, bait freezer, live baitwell, teak cockpit sole, teak covering boards, and a fighting chair.
