TIGER LILY TOO is a unique Gunboat 90, the only one of its kind ever built. This custom performance cruising catamaran was designed by Morrelli & Melvin and constructed in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2010. Its lightweight structure features full-carbon composite construction, with vacuum-bagged epoxy hull and deck over a Nomex aramid honeycomb core, along with carbon fiber inner skins and Kevlar outer skins. Equipped with lifting rudders and daggerboards, she has a shallow draft of just 5.2 feet. Unlike many performance vessels, she has never been raced; instead, she has been expertly cruised and maintained by a dedicated crew.
From 2019 to 2021, TIGER LILY TOO underwent a significant $11 million refit at Newport Shipyard, which modernized her technical systems and onboard layout. All systems were either replaced or upgraded, including machinery, appliances, electronics, wiring, and piping. The interior was notably reconfigured by removing four structural posts in the salon and adding a full-width carbon beam. The galley was relocated from the salon to the starboard hull, creating a separate space for the crew that is distinct from the main guest areas.
The refit also enhanced her sailing performance, with updates to the mast components, sails, standing and running rigging, replacement daggerboards, and new titanium rudder bearings. PTO-driven bow thrusters were added to improve maneuverability, alongside changes to the coach roof, exterior styling, and boarding arrangements.
TIGER LILY TOO accommodates up to eight guests in four luxurious cabins. The main cabin, located midships on the port side, features a walk-around king berth, a private en-suite, and a dedicated office with a built-in desk. Two additional double staterooms are situated at the aft, while a separate bunk cabin connects through a day head to the starboard aft cabin, allowing for flexible use of space. Crew quarters are located forward, with two cabins, dedicated wet heads, and capacity for up to four crew members. The interior showcases elegant finishes with satin-stained birch cabinetry and Brazilian mahogany flooring.
The salon serves as the main social and navigation hub, offering an open-plan design with wraparound windows that provide stunning 360-degree views. Two curved sofas are positioned at the front, accompanied by a custom round dining table and a full-length bar and coffee station on the starboard side. The helm is centrally located within the salon, with the navigation station positioned forward to starboard. For entertainment, a ceiling-mounted projector operates with a retractable screen.
The galley, situated amidships in the starboard hull, features ample counter space, storage, a large refrigerator, an underfloor chest freezer, and stacked Miele washer and dryer. Adjacent to the galley is the crew mess, furnished with an L-shaped banquette and dining/work table, flat-screen television, CZone and chartplotter displays, VHF handset, and fire alarm panel.
The aft cockpit is designed for alfresco dining, featuring two L-shaped seating areas and expandable tables. Double sliding doors connect the cockpit to the salon, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. A custom Falcon tender is stored on the aft davits.
In 2025, further investments included replacing the teak throughout the yacht, including the transoms, steps, and both forward and aft cockpits. The mast received a repaint and overhaul, the headstay was replaced, and the rig underwent significant updates with a new switch car stack pack and car system. Her sail inventory was refreshed with a 2025 North 3Di main and Solent featuring an RP locking headboard.
The yacht’s power system is equipped with 7,700 watts of solar generation from 53 panels, complemented by a high-capacity battery bank. The transoms are also set up for large Watt & Sea hydro-generators. With her extensive refit from 2019-2021 and additional updates in 2025, TIGER LILY TOO stands as a thoroughly modernized example of this one-off Gunboat 90 platform.
