Boat Description

JUBILEE, the seventh hull of the seven Columbia Constellations crafted between 1966 and 1967, showcases a remarkable design lineage. Its hull and underbody draw inspiration from the Columbia 38, designed by Charlie Morgan, while the deck reflects the artistry of Bill Tripp's Columbia 50. Notably, Columbia did not credit either designer in their sales materials. JUBILEE features a highly regarded hull shape, developed from Morgan's 1962/63 tank testing for the 1964 America's Cup defense, based on test model #2117, affectionately known as "Eagle." With distinctive characteristics like a fuller bow and a flatter stern, JUBILEE excels in both choppy seas and downwind sailing, making her a uniquely dry vessel. The original five-foot model "Eagle" continues to thrive today, replicated by over 25 manufacturers across the U.S. since the early 1960s, with 1,450 boats actively racing in five countries as part of the radio-controlled AMYA East Coast 12 Meter Class (EC12), cherished for her elegant hull and genuine yacht sailing experience. Bill Tripp's design enhances JUBILEE with features commonly found on larger yachts, including a spacious cockpit, a bright interior, a nearly flush foredeck, and a generous sail-handling hatch, all celebrating Tripp's signature style. With her design legacy, timeless elegance, and outstanding performance, JUBILEE stands out in the growing community of classic yachts. The current owner acquired JUBILEE in 2007 from a previous owner who cherished her for 22 years. The 2007 listing described her as a "custom boat" with extensive upgrades, including a new Selden spar and boom, fresh Awlgrip topsides, a rebuilt Westerbeke diesel engine from 2001, and a new propane system featuring a Force 10 stove with an oven. Adorned with classic lines, JUBILEE is not only a head-turner but also a delight to sail. Since her purchase, her current owner has provided exemplary care to maintain her beauty and performance.
