The vessel, named Manu Wai (meaning 'Sea Bird'), has just undergone a comprehensive deck and house refit at Cape George Marine Works Yard in Port Townsend, WA, where it was originally constructed. The boat is currently positioned on-site, allowing the next owner(s) the chance to collaborate with Cape George for any additional customizations before launching, if desired. With numerous upgrades made by the current owner, Manu Wai can be viewed at the Cape George Marine Works Yard in Port Townsend, WA. Originally crafted as the personal sailboat of master shipbuilder Cecil Lange, Manu Wai stands out as one of the finest Cape George 38's ever built. The boat underwent a significant refit between 2012 and 2013 at Cape George Marine Works, receiving extensive upgrades and meticulous maintenance throughout its lifetime. The Mercedes Benz Diesel Engine was rebuilt in 2003 (a brand new Mercedes Diesel engine is also available), with new standing rigging, LED navigation and interior lighting, a new mast and boom, a new bowsprit, new FRP decks, new bronze thru-hulls, and a new mainsail all completed in 2013 (see 'Specs' for detailed information). This is an ideal moment for a new owner to engage with the vessel, taking advantage of its current haul-out status at Cape George Marine Works. Accommodations are thoughtfully designed; on deck, Manu Wai features wide side decks for easy movement from bow to stern, a flat-roofed cabin house, and a spacious, comfortable cockpit equipped with cushions and a large Bimini with side-walls. The brightwork on the bulwarks has recently been refinished. Below deck, the layout is spacious and well-organized. The galley, located to starboard at the base of the companionway steps, includes a Force 10 LPG stove and oven, a double stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressure water, and ample cabinets and drawers for storage. To port, a large horizontal refrigerator doubles as a chart table, while behind it lies a roomy quarter berth. The salon features a single settee to port and a large L-shaped dinette to starboard with a folding table, along with a Newport heater and plenty of storage options. A hanging locker and additional cabinets for storage are located to port, while the spacious head on starboard includes a shower, a port light, and storage. At the bow, a generous V-berth provides storage and an overhead hatch. Manu Wai is a classic blue-water boat that combines beauty, sturdiness, and exceptional sailing performance!
