Skylark has just received several upgrades in late 2025, including new bottom paint, a fresh non-skid deck with a mahogany subfloor, and a newly painted cabin house with non-skid surfaces. Renowned for its exceptional seaworthiness, comfortable sailing, and proven performance in rough conditions, the Cape George 36 is built to last with hand-laid fiberglass measuring between 1/2" and 1" thick. It features a full-length keel and a transom-hung rudder, making it a heavy displacement vessel with a weight of 23,300 lbs and an internal lead ballast of 10,500 lbs, ensuring excellent stability and self-righting capabilities in heavy weather. Despite its weight, the 36 performs well under sail, with a cutter rig that offers multiple sail plan options. Recent mechanical upgrades include a new Hearth transmission and serviced heat exchanger, along with new engine hoses and filters. Rigging and sailing equipment updates feature new sheets, halyards, a custom spruce wood tiller, and a Monitor Wind Vane, among others. The electronics package has been enhanced with new AGM batteries, a Xantrex charger, a Pelagic Heavy Tiller Pilot, and various navigation devices. The sail inventory includes a North main, Quantum yankee and staysail, a Lidgard spinnaker with sock, and storm sails. Additional upgrades comprise a Marine Village Little Wonder water maker, a Maxwell windlass, a Force 10 stove, and two anchors with extensive chain.
