Boat Description

"Vintage" is a beautifully maintained sedan cruiser that boasts a striking downeast profile. This thoughtfully designed Cape Dory 36 delivers robust seagoing capabilities, superb accommodations, and a generous layout, providing just the right touch of luxury for you and your guests to enjoy on the water. Ideal for the Great Loop, she features twin diesel engines, safe side decks, and excellent visibility. Her owner describes her perfectly: “Vintage has been the reliable, long-range cruising platform I sought when I purchased her a decade ago. My daughter and I have explored the Northeast annually, often anchoring at Block Island. With her comfortable accommodations, generator, AC, and spacious galley, she’s perfect for leisurely yet efficient cruising. Her systems are meticulously maintained and have performed excellently.” According to the Power Boat Guide, the Cape Dory 36 Flybridge is economical and visually appealing, combining classic aesthetics with spirited performance that resonates with boating enthusiasts. She rides on a modified-V hull with a solid fiberglass foundation and a protective keel. The interior features exquisite handcrafted teak cabinetry, a standard two-stateroom layout, and a mid-level galley. Large salon windows create an airy atmosphere, while the spacious cockpit is perfect for several anglers, equipped with a transom door and teak covering boards. Additional highlights include a teak bow pulpit, swim platform, wide side decks, and a compact flybridge with a forward helm. Equipped with optional 250hp GM 8.2 diesels, she cruises comfortably at 19-20 knots, reaching a top speed of about 22 knots. Accommodations in this 1988 Cape Dory Flybridge blend timeless design with modern comforts for both cruising and fishing. With reverse cycle heat/AC and a generator, she’s equally suited for extended journeys or quick trips to local canyons. The Forward Primary Cabin features a V-berth with filler and ample drawer storage underneath, along with a large hanging locker and overhead shelving. Ventilation is ensured with two stainless opening ports and a deck hatch. The starboard Guest Stateroom has two over & under bunks, storage beneath the lower bunk, and a hanging locker, complemented by a small dressing seat and two stainless opening port windows. Adjacent to the guest stateroom is a spacious Head Compartment featuring a newer Tecma porcelain electric head, a separate shower stall, a vanity with sink, and plenty of storage. Recent updates include a new head water pump, shower sump pump, and septic lines (all ’25). The galley, located just aft of the head, boasts a "U" shaped configuration with parquet flooring, double stainless sinks, a Norcold 120/12-volt refrigerator/freezer, hot/cold pressurized water, an upgraded Kenyon electric stove, a Princess by Seaward microwave, and ample storage. The salon features an expansive L-shaped settee that converts into a berth, with a Hi/Low teak table and large windows that flood the space with light. The interior is entirely teak, with two deck hatches and six opening stainless ports ensuring excellent ventilation throughout. The electronics package includes a newer Garmin GPSMAP 1040XS chart plotter with Garmin RADAR, a Standard Horizon VHF radio at the flybridge helm, and a stereo system for entertainment. The mechanical systems are robust, featuring twin GM Detroit 8.2 250HP diesel engines, regularly maintained and recently updated with new shafts, turbos, and exhaust elbows. Other features include a Halon fire suppression system, twin Cruisair reverse cycle air conditioners, multiple bilge pumps, and an engine oil pump-out system. Additional equipment includes custom cushions, a Simpson Lawrence anchor windlass, a stainless-steel plow anchor, and wide fiberglass side decks. The flybridge is equipped with a full enclosure, while the cockpit offers a sunshade and rod holders. With a 2010 Achilles HB-280 DX RIB dinghy and a rebuilt 9.9 HP Mercury outboard, plus a new dinghy canvas cover, this boat is ready for adventure. Complete with a USCG safety package, "Vintage" is not just a boat; she’s a gateway to unforgettable experiences on the water.
