Boat Description

"Vintage" is a beautifully preserved sedan cruiser that boasts a striking downeast aesthetic. This thoughtfully crafted Cape Dory 36 combines durable seagoing capabilities with comfortable accommodations, an expansive layout, and just the right touch of luxury for you and your guests to enjoy while on the water. With diesel twin screws, secure side decks, and excellent sight lines, this boat is an exceptional choice for the Great Loop. Her experienced owner aptly described her as: “Vintage has been the stable long-range cruising platform that I sought when I purchased her a decade ago. My daughter and I have explored the Northeast every year, often anchoring at Block Island. The cozy accommodations, generator, AC, and spacious galley make her an ideal setup for enjoyable cruising at a reasonable pace and efficiency. All systems are well-maintained and function flawlessly.” According to the Power Boat Guide, the Cape Dory 36 Flybridge is not only economical to run but also visually appealing, featuring classic lines and spirited planning-speed performance that resonates with boating enthusiasts. She is built on a modified-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom and a long keel for prop protection. Inside, the handcrafted teak cabinets and trim are signature elements of this builder. The standard two-stateroom layout includes a mid-level galley, while large salon windows create an airy atmosphere. The cockpit is spacious enough for several anglers and their gear, equipped with a transom door and teak covering boards. Notable features include a teak bow pulpit, a teak swim platform, wide side decks, and a compact flybridge with the helm positioned forward. With optional 250hp GM 8.2 diesels, she cruises comfortably at 19–20 knots, reaching a top speed of around 22 knots. This 1988 Cape Dory Flybridge exemplifies classic design for both leisurely cruising and fishing adventures, complete with reverse cycle heat/AC and a generator, making her versatile enough for long journeys or quick trips to the canyons. The Forward Primary Cabin offers a V-berth with filler cushions and ample drawer storage beneath, along with a spacious hanging locker and shelves above. Ventilation is provided by two stainless steel opening ports and a deck hatch. The starboard Guest Stateroom features bunk beds with storage below, a large hanging locker, and two stainless opening port windows for airflow. Adjacent to the Guest Stateroom is a private Head Compartment equipped with a newer Tecma porcelain electric head, a separate shower stall, vanity with sink, and generous storage. The head's water pump, shower sump pump, and septic lines were all replaced in 2025. The galley area is a step up from the head, designed in a "U" shape with parquet flooring and double stainless sinks. It includes a Norcold 120/12-volt refrigerator/freezer, hot/cold pressurized water, an upgraded two-burner Kenyon electric stove, a Princess by Seaward microwave, and ample storage. Natural light floods the space through large salon windows. The hot water system, water tanks, and freshwater pumps were all renewed in 2015. The salon features a sizable L-shaped settee to starboard that converts into a berth and a Hi/Low teak table. Large windows ensure plenty of light and an open ambiance throughout the area, all while showcasing the beautiful teak interior. Two deck hatches and six stainless steel opening ports help maintain excellent light and ventilation across all cabins. The galley includes a Norcold 120/12-volt refrigerator, U-shaped configuration, double stainless-steel sinks, a two-burner Kenyon electric stove, a Princess by SeaWard microwave oven, white Formica counters, teak parquet flooring, and stainless opening ports. For electronics and electrical systems, she is fitted with a newer Garmin GPSMAP 1040XS chart plotter with radar, a new Standard Horizon Eclipse VHF at the flybridge helm, a stereo system, and a Westerbeke 8kw generator with new components. The propulsion system consists of twin GM Detroit 8.2 250HP diesel engines with approximately 2,200 hours, regularly maintained and updated. Additional equipment includes a custom settee, stainless steel bow and handrails, a windlass, a plow anchor, and a variety of safety and convenience features. This well-equipped vessel is ready for your next adventure on the water."
