For sale in Destin, Florida, this 1996 Custom Built Biloxi Schooner features a retractable centerboard and is ready for a new owner. While it requires a topside inspection to update its Certificate of Inspection, the vessel has successfully hosted dolphin cruises and day charters for more than a decade. Inspired by the iconic Gulf Coast 'Biloxi' schooner, The Julia Delecruz, built in 1924, the Daniel Webster Clements began construction in 1994 at Zirlott Boatbuilding Yard in Coden, Alabama, and was completed in 1998. With a displacement of 32 tons, it boasts a deck length of 54 feet and a sparred length of 72 feet, along with a beam of 17'9". The vessel features a sturdy steel centerboard, allowing for a draft of over six and a half feet when down and three and a half feet when retracted. Crafted from pressure-treated southern yellow pine, its mast and bowsprit are solid pine, while the booms, gaffs, and topmast are made of lightweight laminated spruce. The interior showcases pressure-treated pine bulkheads and tongue-and-groove paneling, complemented by white oak cabin flooring. The spacious side decks measure 40" wide, and the aft deck is an impressive 15 feet wide by 11 feet long, with an additional 16 feet by 6 feet of deck space between the two cabins, offering ample seating for customers. Up front, the vessel is equipped with a Lunenburg Foundry Ratchet Gypsy Windlass from Nova Scotia, and the retractable centerboard can be managed via a Thern Spur Gear hand winch model M452. The centerboard's 1000-pound weight is supported by a hawse, and steering is accomplished using a Lunenburg Puritan Steerer No. 2 with a 32-inch bronze wheel.
