New, this 61 Convertible departed the Viking factory a “Trust Fun' and was maintained by Captain Jason Woodham our of Destin, FL. The “Trust Fun' family kept the boat for a few years and then sold it and it became the “CONUNDRUM', Captained by Jimmy (Cricket) Crochet. During Captain Cricket's 10 year aboard the “CONUNDUM' this boat lived in Orange Beach Marina in Orange Beach, AL and received the upmost care and maintenance. The open check book philosophy by the “Trust Fun' and “CONUNDRUM' owners is a testament to the current overall condition. Most recently, the boat sold to another veteran owner and became the “Hydra Sea' Captained by Rusty Smith. The “Hydra Sea' has been maintained with the same pedigree as the previous owners, with an open check book.

Over the years the “Hydra Sea' has received several upgrades that keep her in top notch condition and ready to go at a moments notice. Sanders Yacht Works, a premier yacht provider in Orange Beach, AL, did a complete paint job in 2014 addressing the typical gel coat crazing we see on almost every Viking in this era. Dale Havens, Saunders Yacht Works senior mechanical technician, has serviced this vessel almost it's entire existence. If anyone knows Saunders and Dale, they know and respect the attention to details every time he was aboard the boat. In 2018 Layco Marine, another premier provider of yacht service in Orange Beach area, installed two Seakeeper 6's center line in the engine room, Hector Rite Air Dehumidifier, painted the black mast, installed a new salon cocktail ice machine and replaced the salon headliner. Finally, in 2020 the owner decided to upgrade to a GARMIN suite of electronics, new Maxwellwindless, and upgraded SAT V7 TV system.
