Merit, the legendary Maxi 80' Farr-designed Whitbread Yacht, is now available for sale. This incredible opportunity comes with top-of-the-line electronics such as Furuno GPS navigators, a Furuno Radar, GEONAV Color IIB, B&G Vulcan 7, and dual on-deck pods with various features. For safety, the yacht is equipped with three eight-man life rafts, a Lifesling, offshore life jackets with lights and whistles, ARC location beacons, an Orion overboard beacon, and a locate package with flares and a gun. In June 2023, the life rafts were re-certified and new rod rigging and custom-made chain plates were installed. Constructed with carbon and aramid fibers, honeycomb, and PVC foam using the wet layup method on a male plug, Merit was designed by B. Farr and engineered by R. Bowler. After a four-year refit, she is now ready for the Ocean Global Race or Newport Bermuda, with new bottom, hull, and topside paint. With a rich racing history, Merit secured third place in the 1989/1990 Whitbread as a Sloop, and was later transformed into a Ketch by Farr for even better performance.
