Burger 81 Raised Pilothouse 1972

MISS WENDY is a classic Burger motor yacht with a raised pilothouse and was designed by renowned marine architect Weston Farmer. It embodies the grace, sophistication, and seaworthiness that have made Burger yachts renowned, and in its era, was classified as a small ship rather than a large boat. Originally owned by a prestigious Palm Beach yachtsman, the vessel completed an adventurous journey to Alaska and back, with detailed logs still on-board. In later years, another owner navigated her to the headwaters of the Mississippi. With her Cummins T-12 naturally aspirated commercial diesel engines perfectly suited for her 109-ton mass and semi-planning hull, she boasts a trans-Atlantic range with a fuel capacity of 5040 gallons. Interestingly, the original owner specifically chose commercial grade engines typically used for tugboats or yard switcher locomotives. It is believed that these engines were rebuilt once after the Alaska voyage and have only accumulated less than 4000 hours since. The current owner attests to no noticeable oil usage, and in comparison to their commercial counterparts, the total hours are considered to still be at the break-in stage.
