The V-55 is a versatile vessel, excelling as an offshore tournament contender, a high-performance sport yacht, a fish-and-cruise express, or a tender for a Viking or superyacht. It is powered by four or five Mercury 7.6-liter V12 600-hp Verado outboards. “We designed and engineered the boat specifically for these engines,” explains Lonni Rutt, Viking's Vice President of Design and Engineering. “We created a transom and structure capable of supporting the weight and horsepower, allowing us to embrace this technology rather than simply adapt to it.” The Valhalla 55 boasts an impressive fuel capacity of 1,200 gallons—200 to 300 gallons more than competing models. It features an electrically operated fuel management system that enhances reliability and efficiency by allowing each engine to draw from designated tanks. Designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design, the Valhalla 55 utilizes the patented Stepped-V Ventilated Tunnel (SVVT). “Our previous V Series models have shown remarkable performance in ride quality, efficiency, maneuverability, and helm visibility,” David notes about the double-stepped, deep-V running surface. “The V-55 is the largest center console available, utilizing what we consider the most advanced and effective stepped-hull design on the market.” This new Valhalla is also the largest resin-infused center console of its type. Similar to a Viking sportfisher, it is constructed with a hybrid of fiberglass and carbon fiber/E-glass fabrics for optimal strength while minimizing weight. The structural stringer grid, deck, liners, and hardtop are also resin-infused. The stringer grid is specifically engineered to install a gyro stabilizer, accessible through a watertight hatch in the cockpit sole. “We designed the space and structure for a Seakeeper 9,” Lonni adds. “While a smaller gyro would suffice, we wanted to provide maximum comfort for our customers.” The V Series is celebrated for its meticulous fit and finish, and the craftsmanship of the V-55 is equally impressive. All hatches feature deep drain channels and gaskets that fit securely into molded channels to ensure proper function. Doors and lids are gelcoat-finished on both sides using Light Resin Transfer Molding, and the hardware from Gemlux is of the highest quality.
