"One item we’ve discovered over the years is that even experienced yachtsmen tend to think that all full displacement vessels are the same. Nothing could be further from the truth! Starting with a proven hull design, the 70 takes the best of all Krogen models and the company’s more than 45 years of experience and places it all within its flagship model. The company’s Pure Full Displacement hull not only allows for comfortable and efficient passages, but it provides tremendous volume to accommodate significant storage and tankage. It’s also key to note that it is not and will never be the practice of Kadey-Krogen Yachts to take our smaller models and stretch them to much larger models with a wedge or extension in the tooling. Not only does this compromise the architectural integrity of the model, we’ve also found that the practice lends itself to compromising the overall design objectives.
Like all Krogens, the 70 is solid fiberglass below the waterline, and then the coring material is vacuum-bagged in place everywhere above the waterline. Utilizing core materials and the vacuum-bagging process creates a stronger result that weighs less. In addition, the hull laminations include an aramid fiber like those used in bulletproof vests. Stronger combined with lighter also means more efficient, a key objective in a yacht like the Krogen 70 that is designed to conquer every corner of the globe."
