"Cougars' Gold" is a meticulously maintained 1996 Ocean Alexander Pilot House 548, a 55-foot motoryacht crafted in Kaohsiung, Taiwan by her original owner. With an overall length of 55'6" and a beam of 17'6", this vessel boasts a 4' draft and a displacement of 56,000 lbs. It is powered by twin Caterpillar 3176 6-cylinder diesel engines, each delivering 600 hp, and has impressively low engine hours of 1,505 (port) and 1,511 (starboard). An 8 kW Onan generator, with 1,703 hours, provides reliable electrical support. The yacht cruises smoothly at 13.5 to 16 knots and can reach a top speed of 21 knots, equipped with two midship fuel tanks that hold 1,000 gallons, 260 gallons of fresh water, and a 75-gallon holding tank.
Accommodations on board comfortably sleep up to eight individuals across three well-appointed staterooms. The mid-ship master suite features a walk-around queen bed and an ensuite head with a separate shower. The forward VIP stateroom includes a double pedestal berth with a connecting day head, while the third stateroom offers two twin berths. Additionally, the custom-built salon settee can convert into a double bed, and both heads are equipped with SeaLand VacuFlush units and independent pumps.
Located just aft of the pilot station, the galley is fully equipped with a four-burner Amana propane range, a Sharp convection/microwave oven, two undercounter refrigerators, a Frigidaire dishwasher, a disposer, dark green Corian countertops, a U-Line icemaker, and a Franke sink with a pullout sprayer. The salon features a seven-foot Corian-topped buffet cabinet and an entertainment system with DirectTV/Skywatch satellite and surround sound. Two leather recliners with ottomans provide comfort, and heating is provided by both a diesel furnace and wall-mounted electric heat.
The yacht's electronics and navigation systems are comprehensive, including Mathers electronic engine controls with bridge and remote stations, dual KVH Azimuth compasses, a pilothouse PC connected to GPS units with a color printer, an Icom IC-502 VHF with DSC, a Furuno FCV-667 color sounder, a 48-mile Furuno radar, Comnav 1001 autopilot, Garmin GPS, and Furuno DGPS/WAAS/GPS, all integrated with the onboard computer.
On deck, the vessel features a Maxwell vertical windlass with 300' of chain rode, a 50 kg Bruce anchor, along with stainless plow and Danforth stern anchors. Additional highlights include a Wesmar bow thruster, a central vacuum system, an intercom system, a hot/cold cockpit shower, four bilge pumps, Racor fuel/water separators, and a Reverso oil change system. Other equipment includes Xintex LPG monitoring, Tankwatch holding-tank monitoring, Bennett trim tabs, an underwater exhaust system, an upright freezer in the lazarette, an Espar diesel furnace, and a Fireboy fire suppression system.
