Polestar stands out as one of Ted Hood's most acclaimed and aesthetically pleasing designs, crafted to his exceptional standards at his Little Harbor facility in Taiwan. As one of about 30 Little Harbor 38s, she has benefited from extensive care and thoughtful upgrades through her various owners. In 2010, she was repowered, and in 2011/12, both the deck and cockpit sole were re-cored and re-decked. A new Edson steering system was installed in 2011, and a new refrigeration/freezer was added in 2021. Several standing rigging components for her Hood Stowaway mast were replaced between 2016 and 2018. Polestar is well-equipped with color radar, two chart plotters, an autopilot, and an electronic compass. Additional features include a cockpit dodger and bimini, all lines led aft to the cockpit, roller furling headstay, self-tailing cockpit winches, multiple headsails, a spinnaker, and a drifter. Recent upgrades include new batteries, a high-output alternator, a solar panel, a MaxProp feathering propeller, a windlass, two anchors, and a stern outboard engine davit, as well as other premium cruising accessories. This offshore-capable design boasts a rich heritage and shows exceptionally well, with all exterior brightwork freshly stripped and revarnished in multiple coats.
