Boat Description

Dovekie is a classic 42-foot Kadey Krogen trawler designed for self-sufficiency and long-term living aboard. Equipped with stabilizers and both bow and stern thrusters, it is easy for a couple to handle. With its generator, solar panels, a large battery bank, and a water-maker, Dovekie is built for adventures in remote locations. This vessel has explored the far reaches of the Bahamas and even circumnavigated the Caribbean, and she's ready to return to those beautiful destinations at a moment's notice. Over the years, Dovekie has undergone several upgrades to enhance her performance. In 2007, her hull was reinforced and treated with vinyl-ester by Osprey Marine Composites in Deale, MD. The top deck was completely re-cored and painted with Awl-grip in 2004, along with the addition of Naiad stabilizers that same year. During the 2007 renovations, Dovekie's decks were fully replaced with new teak, secured without screws, and the hull received a fresh gel coat. To preserve her condition, she was stored 'on the hard' during summers from 2000 to 2017. Since relocating to New Jersey in 2018, Dovekie has continued to be meticulously maintained, with winter storage in Myrtle Beach (2019-2020), New Bern, NC (2020-2021, where a bow thruster was installed), Charleston, SC (2021-2022), Portsmouth, VA (2022-2023), and again in Portsmouth, NH (2023-2024), before her upcoming storage in New Jersey (2024-2025).
