The J/40, crafted by Rod Johnstone, combines speed, elegance, and durability, earning its reputation as one of the finest offshore performance cruisers. Celebrated as 'Boat of the Year' in both 1985 and 1986, this vessel features a larger mainsail and smaller headsails for easier handling during short-handed sailing. Its deck layout is nearly ideal for cruising, while the partially balanced large spade rudder ensures superb steering control in various conditions. With a sail area displacement ratio of 18.3, the J/40 remains swift and responsive, even in light winds. Inside, the spacious saloon is designed to accommodate two cruising couples comfortably. The KINSALE boasts a newer Yanmar diesel engine, Quantum Sails, updated electronics, and a Dodger. Unfortunately, the owner has been unable to use the vessel, making the KINSALE a sturdy J/40 that needs some cosmetic attention, thus priced attractively for a quick sale.
