Hurricane is the most recent Wianno Senior, built in 2020, and specially designed for racing in the prestigious Wianno Senior Class by EMC Crosby Boat Works. She has been meticulously cared for by EMC Boat Works and has primarily sailed from Hyannis Port, MA. Key features include battened racing sails, control lines, a finger-touch peak adjuster, simple backstay tensioners, a custom tiller with a Ronstan handle grip extension, spinnaker netting, and more. The Wianno Senior class has a rich history, having been raced across Nantucket Sound since 1914, with a notable 100th Anniversary celebration in the summer of 2014. These stunning, gaff-rigged one-design sailboats were initially crafted from wood by Osterville's Crosby Yacht Building Company before transitioning to fiberglass, a change initiated by Sparkman & Stevens, resulting in nearly 40 fiberglass boats being built. The Wianno Senior class has a legacy that includes sailing enthusiasts like the late John F. Kennedy and his brother Teddy, who participated in numerous events throughout Nantucket Sound.
