The Cape George 36 is celebrated for its remarkable seaworthiness, smooth sailing experience, and outstanding performance in harsh ocean conditions. Constructed with robust hand-laid fiberglass ranging from 1/2" to 1" thick, it boasts a full-length keel and a transom-hung rudder. This heavy displacement vessel weighs 23,300 lbs, featuring 10,500 lbs of internal lead ballast for exceptional stability, tracking, and self-righting capability in rough weather. Despite its weight, the 36 offers impressive sailing performance, and the cutter rig allows for versatile sail plan options. Recent mechanical updates include a new Hearth transmission (2024), heat exchanger service (2024), and new engine hoses and filters (2024). Sailing equipment has also been refreshed with new sheets and halyards (2024), a custom spruce wood tiller (2024), a Monitor wind vane (2024), and a custom Jordan Series drogue with installed chainplates (2024). The standing rigging was updated in 2020, along with a Profurl furler, running backstays with Garhauer tackle, and a spinnaker pole. For electronics and navigation, Skylark is equipped with two AGM 8D 245 AH batteries (2024), a Xantrex battery charger (2024), a Pelagic heavy tiller pilot (2024), three solar panels, a B&G Triton display, a Simrad GPS/chartplotter, Simrad radar, an iCOM VHF, an iCOM single sideband radio, and AIS. The sail inventory includes a North main, a Quantum yankee, a Quantum staysail, a Lidgard spinnaker with a sock, and storm trysail and staysail. Additional upgrades feature a Marine Village Little Wonder water maker, a Maxwell VWC 1500 windlass (2025), a Force 10 stove/range, a Hurricane refrigeration system, a Bruce anchor, and a CQR anchor with 300' of chain for the primary and secondary anchors.
