NORTH STAR is a Bristol Yachts sailboat designed by Ted Hood, featuring a classic design with a shoal-draft, centerboard hull and a robust build for excellent upwind performance and a smooth sailing experience. With an interior that offers ample space for its size, it's perfect for comfortable living at sea. The sailboat has a draft of 4'11" when the centerboard is raised, enabling access to shallow anchorages, while lowering the board increases the draft to 11' for enhanced upwind sailing capabilities. NORTH STAR accommodates up to four guests in two private staterooms—a forward V-berth and an aft centerline queen—as well as an additional 2–4 guests in the main salon, where settees can be converted into double berths. Powered by a Westerbeke 70 hp diesel engine, which underwent a full overhaul by Hansen Marine in 2013 and has approximately 500 hours since then (1,862 total hours), she's also equipped with a Northern Lights 10 kW generator with just 633 hours of use. In 2025, NORTH STAR underwent significant upgrades at Portland Yacht Services, which included the installation of a new Cruise RO 30 gph watermaker, new reverse-cycle AC/heat, upgraded refrigerator and freezer cold plates, new domestic water lines, modern galley and head faucets, a new drive shaft, a 140-amp alternator, a new mainsail, and a reconditioned mast, boom, and rigging, along with new halyards, LED lights, and clutches. For the past two years, she has been professionally stored and maintained by Portland Yacht Services, following a decade of care by Jamestown Boat Yard in Jamestown, RI. NORTH STAR features furling sails, including a Hood Stoway electric furling mast, a Schaefer 3100 furling genoa, and a Schaefer 2100 furling staysail, complemented by a complete inventory of Hood storm and cruising sails. Her electronics package includes a Raymarine C90 radar/chartplotter, a Garmin 541 mini GPS/chartplotter, Raymarine SeaTalk-networked sailing instruments, an Autohelm 6000 autopilot, ICOM M-504 VHF and ICOM M-802 SSB radios, passive AIS, and a Globalstar satellite phone.
