SCOUT is a rare classic yacht crafted from fiberglass by Hodgdon Brothers in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, and designed by the esteemed John G. Alden Naval Architects. As one of only six in existence, she stands out with her taller rig while remaining ICW-friendly, boasting a bridge clearance of 63.5 feet. Her full-keel shoal draft of just 5.5 feet allows her to access virtually any destination. A robust offshore cruiser, she routinely travels between New York and Florida, yet is also agile enough for exploring shallow waters and hidden creeks. Equipped with dual Hood Stowaway masts (replaced in 1996) and a new Selden roller furling, sail handling is a breeze for one or two people. Over the last decade, she has undergone numerous upgrades, including a 9KW Northern Lights generator, a Victron 3000W inverter/charger paired with 900W Solara solar panels, a Vetus 24-volt thruster, and a Maxwell 3500 windlass complete with a chain counter and cockpit controls. Comfort is ensured with three Dometic air conditioning units, while navigation is supported by a Ray Axion chartplotter with radar overlay, Ray Marine sailing instruments, AIS, and autopilot. Recent enhancements also include new main mast standing and running rigging, custom yacht boarding stairs, and a cockpit enclosure. For safety, SCOUT is outfitted with offshore storm windows, a Viking 6-person offshore liferaft, a Man Overboard system, two EPIRBs, jacklines, and tethers.
