Boat Description

This is a well-maintained Bluewater boat, a 1987 Oyster 46 named 'Here Be Dragons'. It has an overall length of 46 feet and 2 inches, a beam of 14 feet, and a draft of 6 feet and 6 inches. The displacement is 32,000 pounds and it has a fuel capacity of 120 gallons and fresh water capacity of 220-250 gallons (including a water heater). It has a holding tank capacity of approximately 26 gallons. Originally designed by renowned Naval Architects Holman ; Pye, this deck saloon Oyster yacht was purchased by the current owner from the Oyster Yard Ipswich England in 1995. It has been stored in fresh water of Lake Michigan and heated since 2003. Constructed with single skin GRTP supported by massive ribs and stringers, it features a center cockpit with a master suite equipped with a queen berth, a bunk room, and a v-berth, as well as two heads each with its own separate shower space. The boat is cutter rigged with an encapsulated keel and skeg rudder, and is hull #21 of 25 constructed between 1981 and 1990. In 2003, the teak decks were removed and replaced with 12 sheets of marine plywood and teak decking, reducing the risk of water ingress without compromising on appearance. The mainsail, new in 2022 from Mack Sails, has only been used for a handful of hours while the genny sail, also from Mack Sails, is around 8-10 years old and has seen little use. Additional features include a bow thruster and a hot water heater, as well as a fully equipped galley with two stainless steel sinks, stove/oven, and refrigeration and ice box. The engine is a 82 horsepower Perkins 4236 diesel with a 3-blade feathering propeller. The electrical system includes a 12-volt DC system with Optima Group 31 battery, Xantrex charging and inverter systems, and shore power with two 120-volt 50-amp inlets. It is equipped with various navigation and electronic systems, as well as sails and rigging in good condition, including a new mainsail and a genoa from Mack Sails. The winches, in good condition, include two Lewmar 44 and one Lewmar 30.
