Boat Description
Detroit Diesel Powered
This US Navy Launch was retired from service. The Boston Dive Club restored the vessel for use as a dive boat in the North Atlantic. (see pic. 2) The diesel fuel cell ruptured and she filled with diesel. The smell of diesel could not be removed from the vessel. It was donated to charity by the dive club. We paid $3400 to ship the boat to Lanier from Boston. The boat was enjoyed using a small 10 gallon fuel cell here on Lanier for 18 months. The cabin was not so full of diesel odor that it could not be enjoyed to cruise. It was just too full of odor for those returning from diving looking to warm themselves in the heated cabin desiring really fresh air. The boat was left unattended as we vacationed. Unfortunately someone removed the batteries for there own selfish needs and she sank. She stayed down for 6 months before the insurance company finally paid for her removal. At least she no longer smells of diesel (See pictures 15 16 17). The boat floated for 6 months after being recovered. The insurance company abandoned the vessel. We removed the vessel from Lanier as they could not (she weighs 25000lbs.). She has been on dry land for 6 more months (See the last 26 pics). She starts and runs fine after her soaking in freshwater. The Detroit actually runs well... here is your chance to finsh her story. LML 7.24.12 ........... Our 15 acre boat yard has over 100 new trailers deeply discounted, over 250 used trailers, over 100 complete outboards, over 250 incomplete outboards for part, over 50 complete inboard outboard systems, over 150 incomplete inboard and outboard systems, literally millions of used hard to find parts.
