On January 21, 2026, Tartan Yachts has entered a new chapter with Jon Duer stepping in as CEO, backed by strong local financial support to uphold the esteemed legacy of the brand. The Tartan 395 model can be customized to your specifications as it represents a new build opportunity.
The Tartan 395 is a stunning embodiment of beauty, power, and quality, rising above the average production sailboat. Tartan Yachts has solidified its reputation for crafting the finest performance cruising sailboats, and the 395, designed by Tim Jackett, adds to this prestigious lineage that began nearly 60 years ago, with four boats currently on order.
Every aspect of the Tartan 395's design and construction is meticulously evaluated to ensure exceptional cruising performance. Its hull shape is a refined evolution of proven concepts that deliver impressive stability and generous interior space while providing a comfortable sailing experience across various conditions. The hull and deck are constructed with high-quality laminates, featuring multi-axial arrangements of uni-directional e-glass fibers that are reinforced with closed cell structural foam in the hull and traditional balsa coring in the deck, all infused with modified epoxy resin. This advanced process results in a void-free laminate, optimizing the glass fiber to resin ratio for a stiff, strong, and lightweight structure. Tartan’s commitment to superior laminating materials and techniques allows for design flexibility and targeted strength, enhancing overall performance while minimizing weight.
On deck, the Tartan 395 showcases classic Tartan design features, including an elegant cabin house adorned with polished stainless steel rectangular portholes that are both stylish and functional. True to its heritage, the 395 offers ample natural light and ventilation with 12 house-side portholes, 2 cockpit portholes, 7 deck hatches, and 2 Dorades. The spacious and secure cockpit serves as the hub for both socializing and sailing. With twin wheels positioned wide apart, visibility under sail and power remains unobstructed. This configuration also allows for a clear center walkway leading to the hinge-down transom platform. All sail controls are conveniently routed through rope clutches to cabin-top winches, while headsail trimming winches are easily accessible from both helm positions. The self-tacking jib sheet and double-ended mainsheet, led to the cockpit winches, make sailing single-handed or short-handed effortless. Tartan collaborates with the world's most reliable deck hardware suppliers to ensure proper sizing and installation, further reinforcing their commitment to delivering the best-equipped sailing vessels in the industry.
