Its hull design builds on proven concepts, ensuring remarkable stability and spacious interiors, all while delivering a comfortable sailing experience across various conditions. The hull and deck utilize advanced laminates with multi-axial arrangements of uni-directional e-glass fibers, layered with closed cell structural foam for the hull and traditional balsa coring for the deck, all infused with modified epoxy resin. This innovative process results in a void-free laminate with an optimal glass fiber to resin ratio, creating a strong but lightweight hull and deck combination. Tartan’s commitment to superior laminating materials and techniques allows for strategic design flexibility, enhancing strength where required and reducing weight for improved performance. On deck, the Tartan 395 showcases signature Tartan design features, including an elegant cabin house equipped with stylish and functional polished stainless steel rectangular portholes. True to Tartan’s legacy, the 395 provides ample natural light and ventilation with 12 portholes on the cabin sides, 2 in the cockpit, 7 deck hatches, and 2 Dorades. The spacious yet secure cockpit serves as the heart of sailing and socializing on board. With twin wheels positioned wide apart, visibility under sail and power is unobstructed, and the clean center walkway leads to a hinged transom platform. All sail controls are routed to the cabintop winches through rope clutches, while cockpit winches for headsail trimming are easily accessible from both helm positions. The self-tacking jib sheet and double-ended mainsheet, directed to cockpit winches, make single-handed sailing effortless.
