What exactly is an Imoca? These exceptional 60-foot monohulls are engineered for prestigious ocean races like the Vendée Globe, often referred to as the 'Everest of the Seas,' along with the Ocean Race, Route du Rhum, and Transat Jacques Vabre. Capable of reaching astonishing speeds of nearly 40 knots (70 km/h) when on their foils, Imocas represent the pinnacle of sailing technology and design, akin to Formula 1 cars in the automotive world. Each yacht is a product of cutting-edge engineering advancements across various fields, including hull design, material strength, and computer technology, all crafted to endure the harshest wind and sea conditions. Accept the challenge, embrace innovation. In partnership with top engineering firms and under the direction of architect Sam Manuard, Black Pepper Yachts has successfully constructed three Imocas that will compete in the upcoming 2024 Vendée Globe, accounting for nearly 10% of the fleet. This achievement is noteworthy, as leading skippers have chosen to take on this remarkable challenge aboard our vessels: Bureau Vallée, Initiatives-Cœur, and OceansLab Innovations. Notably, the technological developments and research initiatives pioneered by Black Pepper during the construction of these boats are subsequently applied to the production of standard yachts, enhancing their uniqueness in the nautical market. Embrace the challenge, dare to innovate, and discover solutions: the Imocas crafted by Black Pepper Yachts, featuring designs by Sam Manuard, distinguish themselves with several unique attributes, including the innovative scow hull, moderate beam, offset foils, flush deck, recessed cockpit, and front-view roof.
